BLIKI TIN SHACK

Today is one of those CAW days in the Garden Route (with only a max of 12º C). So let me explain for those of you visiting our beautiful area.  George has the appropriate car number plate sign of CAW which our locals refer to as cold and  wet due to the rain which at times can softly fall for days on end and the cold comes and settle in your bones.

Then it is time to seek some comforts to put a bit of sunshine in your day.  This sunshine you will find at Bliki Tin Shack on the R102 which runs parallel to the N2 if you travel from George to Groot Brak River.

For a bit of comfort, to chase the cold away, you can enjoy a slice of home baked melktert, a local favourite, and a cup of steaming Ugandan coffee enjoyed in front of a Dover stove while catching up on all the local news with Mariaan, the shop owner.  Oh, and do not forget about the homemade pies that is available (I can recommended it!).  They are also available as a frozen option to take home.

And while waiting for your brew browse around the shop and you might pick up a good book or a golden oldie of yester year, Ugandan coffee, a colourful feather duster, baskets, wooden articles, olive oil and jams, dried fruits, paintings and even a fairy tutu if you wish.  You may even find a geocache in the store, just keep an eye open!

This establishment is open Tuesday to Sunday.  Mariaan takes a rest day  on Mondays when the shop is closed for business.  You can also find the Bliki Tin Shack on Facebook.

Sad to say this has closed down during October 2016!
